What is Shou Bo?
Shou Bo is a discipline of Chinese martial arts, which originated from the mother art Shuai-Jiao. Shuai-Jiao or Chinese wrestling is the oldest martial art found in Chinese history. It is the martial art of throwing techniques and hand-to-hand combat.
Shou Bo is a modern variation of traditional Chinese wrestling, to which kicks, punches and defense techniques were added. The sport was developed and promoted in Europe by Grandmaster Yuan Zumou. Speed, flexibility and efficiency are key and ensure a smooth way of working.
Vzw Shoubo.be as a club in Ternat, has worked hard in recent years to develop it in Belgium and we are very proud to be able to organize the upcoming World Championship in our own country for the first time.
Three competition levels
During the Shou Bo competitions, three different levels and competition formats are represented, each with one important common denominator. The work is done smoothly, with many circular movements and always within a respectful framework.
- Level 1: Xiang Bo: Hand-to-Hand fighting with wrestling techniques
- Level 2: Shuai Jiao: Traditional Chinese wrestling with wrestling vest
- Level 3: Shou Bo: Chinese wrestling combined with punches and kicks
